KONCEPT
The main idea is to create a modern and functional hotel inside of magnificent historic monastery of St. Gabriel, which was built in the 19th century. Our project focuses on creating both hotel entry and a lobby. For these purposes we chose former "garden of eden" of St. Gabriel. This area has been rebuilt many times over the years and today's form is far from what it used to be. In our project we want to restore the former glory of the "garden" as well as enrich this space through adding new elements.

‍In our project we designed new entry for guests via tube with brass cladding. The tube reflects the idea of conneting past with the present. This idea of connecting is futhermore highlighted by the vista into the chapel.
We also designed brand new organic roof, which is supported by "tree-shaped" columns. The roof has been pushed up by one storey to further enlarge the area and emphasize it's importance.
The main dominant of the whole lobby is the reception along with bar. Organic shape of the reception is supported by pendulous lights above it made out of glass.
The space of the garden of eden will be enlarged into the cloister by removing decorated arcades, which will be moved to the second storey. This storey will be connected with the ground floor via magnificent spiral staircase made out of brass.

The seating in the lobby is divided into two sections. The first one is unformal seating on sofas and armchairs. The feeling of privacy, there, is created by vegetation along with luminous screen made out of opaque glass. The second section is the bar seating, located behind the reception.

MATERIÁLOVÉ ŘEŠENÍ
The new floor of the lobby is designed to be made of large concrete tiles. The plaster of whole lobby will be made anew, the final color will be "off-white" with slight yellow tint. The space of the garden of eden will be enlarged into the cloister by removing decorated arcades along with windows, which will be moved to the second storey. The floor in the cloister on both storeys will remain current. The roof will be made out of glass tiles on steel mesh along with steel collumns.
